Nearly 250 RCPs attended the 37th Annual Convention of the SCSRC held September 3-5, 2008 at the Hilton Resort on Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC. Despite the threat of Hurricane Hanna rapidly approaching the SC coast, most everyone registered for the meeting stayed to the bitter end. The storm couldn’t keep the vendors away from the conference either. Nearly forty vendors from across the South East were in attendance to provide demonstrations and education to the attendees. Jim Roberson, RRT was awarded the prestigious RCP of the Year Award during the banquet on Wednesday evening. All in all it was a very successful meeting according to Program Chair and newly elected President-Elect Scott Simms, RRT. “We were a little nervous that a lot of people would cancel because of the hurricane threat, when actually the opposite occurred” stated Simms. Planning for the 2009 conference is underway according to incoming Vice-President and Program Chair Randy Lydick, RRT. “With such a great facility, we expect to return to the Hilton Resort for next year’s conference. I encourage everyone to visit the SCSRC’s web site regularly for new information regarding next year’s conference”. ...
